Rep. Nancy Mace Issues Statement On Senate's Failure To Fund DHS, Impending Shutdown

February 13, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Feb. 13, 2026) – Congresswoman Nancy Mace issued the following statement after the Senate failed to move forward with a Department of Homeland Security appropriations measure, prompting a partial government shutdown at midnight tonight:

“The Senate's failure to advance DHS funding threatens a shutdown going far beyond ICE.

“The Coast Guard, FEMA, TSA, and key anti-trafficking programs are all on the line. The consequences: compromised airport security, weakened maritime operations, and dangerous gaps in our efforts to stop human trafficking and respond to natural disasters.

“But what hits even harder is the impact on the Lowcountry. Charleston houses critical Coast Guard operations and a Federal Law Enforcement Training Center training federal, state, and local officers nationwide. These facilities are the backbone of our security and law enforcement infrastructure and key drivers of our economy. The men and women serving there and the families depending on them can't be collateral damage in Washington's political games.

“Congress must fund DHS and stop gambling with the agencies keeping Americans safe.”
