Rep. Nancy Mace Responds to Plea Agreement Dropping Four Charges Against Former Charleston Judge Purportedly Caught With Thousands of Child Porn Images

June 29, 2026

CHARLESTON, S.C. (June 29, 2026) - Congresswoman Nancy Mace (SC-01) issued the following statement in response to the plea agreement filed by former Charleston County judge James Gosnell Jr., who was caught with thousands of images purportedly of child sexual abuse material:

“This is exactly what is wrong with our justice system.

“Predators are negotiating their way out of accountability while their victims have no say in the matter.

“Cutting a deal to let an accused predator walk away from the majority of their child porn charges is not justice.

“It is a slap in the face to every child victim in this case.

“Furthermore, I support the death penalty for anyone who r*pes children.”
