ICYMI: OP-ED, Mace: This is why I'm proposing the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act

September 13, 2024

We’ve heard it all before — open-border advocates love to claim illegal immigrants pose no threat.

But as a woman and an elected official, I’m here to tell the truth and help protect those I represent.

I’ve had enough of weak-kneed politicians pointing at dubious data and making excuses for illegal immigrants who come into our country and rape and murder women and children.

Comparing crime rates between citizens and illegal immigrants is nothing but a distraction — a fake point brought up by activist-politicians and academics who’d rather defend criminals than protect our communities.

No matter how many meaningless estimates, how much half-baked data we hear from the mainstream media and left-wing career politicians, the fact remains: Every crime committed by an illegal immigrant on U.S. soil is a crime that could and should have been prevented.

That’s right. There should be zero violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants, since there shouldn’t be illegal immigrants.

Look at Texas: From 2011 to 2024, more than 10,000 illegal immigrants were charged with sexual offenses; more than 6,700 of those charges were for sexual assault. Yet some still argue these criminals pose no real threat.

While those on the left try to convince you that illegal immigrants are harmless, the tragic stories of Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungaray and Rachel Morin tell a very different story. And as a mom, I’ve had enough.

The ability to prevent another avoidable tragedy like these is in my hands as a lawmaker in Congress, and I got to work drafting H.R.7909, the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act.

H.R.7909 is about common sense — a trait sorely lacking in Washington these days.

This bill ensures predators who pose a threat and have been previously convicted of sexual assault, domestic violence and other heinous crimes are turned away or immediately deported.

The legislation makes sure those who pose a threat are kicked out before they can cause more harm.

It’s time to stop coddling criminals and start standing up for the innocent victims who deserve justice and families who deserve peace of mind.

Introducing this bill is just the beginning.

I’m committed to continuing this fight to protect women and children, and make sure our immigration policies prioritize safety and justice.
