This week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Through our role on the bipartisan Quality of Life Panel, we have championed amendments to our service members and their families. The current administration finally decided to take action to secure the border; except they didn’t. With the order's timing being close to an upcoming presidential debate, it is simply a talking point rather than a comprehensive, long-term approach that will protect South Carolinians. Our office will remain committed to protecting the Lowcountry and securing our borders. In this weeks newsletter, we share our votes and a townhall we hosted at the Old Oyster Factory Restaurant on Hilton Head Island.

We were sent here to work for you, the American people. That's why our office will continue to prioritize the needs of the Lowcountry above all else. This week, we introduced a bill that would secure our border and give Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) the resources they need to protect our great nation. The "Border Security and Blockchain Technology Act" allows for swifter, more secure, and seamless information and communication. We got to meet a rescued puppy named Uno. We also flew in the F-16 fighter jet during our visit to McEntire Joint National Guard Base.

Right now, campuses across America are being overrun by violent antisemitic riots. Universities should have put an end to the protests, but instead they waited. They waited until they became out of control cesspools of hatred. Our office will never negotiate with terrorists or terrorist sympathizers. In this weeks newsletter, see the actions we're taking to put an end this mess.

President Biden’s SOTU address was everything we expected it to be– full of lies, false promises and avoiding issues that really matter to the American people. Our office will continue to break that silence, and we fact checked parts of his State of the Union Address. This week we voted on numerous different bills. We also introduced H.R. 7567, the Protect Victims of Digital Exploitation and Manipulation Act of 2024. Our legislation is a crucial step towards preventing the production and dissemination of harmful images, safeguarding people's rights and privacy. As always, we are fully transparent about our votes and they are included in the weekly newsletter as well!
