Congresswoman Nancy Mace To Attend Bond Hearing In Greenville, S.C. Following Arrest Of Trans Activist
(Charleston, S.C., May 16, 2025)– Congresswoman Nancy Mace will travel to Greenville, South Carolina to attend the bond hearing for Samuel Theodore Cain, a self-identified transgender individual arrested yesterday by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). Cain, who goes by the name “Roxie,” was taken into custody for publicly threatening to assassinate Congresswoman Mace on social media.
On April 26, Cain posted the following threat on X:
“I’M GOING TO ASSASSINATE REPRESENTATIVE NANCY MACE WITH A GUN AND I’M BEING 100% DEAD ASS.”
Cain has been charged with Threatening the Life of a Public Official and is currently detained at the Greenville County Detention Center. The charge stems from a felony offense under Section 16-3-1040 of the South Carolina Code of Laws, which carries a potential penalty of up to five years in prison, a $5,000 fine, or both.
This marks the first time a transgender activist has been arrested and charged for issuing death threats against Congresswoman Mace. The arrest follows ongoing threats she has received in connection with her legislative efforts to protect women and girls in sports and private spaces.
Congresswoman Mace will be present for the court proceedings and will address members of the media following the bond hearing.
