CONGRESSWOMAN NANCY MACE INTRODUCES THE PRISON RAPE PREVENTION ACT
To Stop Men From Endangering Women In Prisons
(Washington, D.C., December 18th, 2023) – Congresswoman Nancy Mace (SC-01) is introducing the Prison Rape Prevention Act today. This legislation bans biological males from sharing women’s prison facilities and ends taxpayer-funded gender-affirming care for inmates.
This bill addresses the growing dangers posed by radical Left-wing policies which have made it open season on vulnerable women in prisons. The Left currently allows violent predators to exploit the system while wasting taxpayer dollars on dangerous gender experiments.
“Let’s call this what it is: insanity,” said Rep. Nancy Mace. “Housing biological men with women in prison is a recipe for disaster. Women in our correctional facilities are already some of the most vulnerable members of society. The Prison Rape Prevention Act puts women’s safety first and shuts down the gender-bending nonsense which has made women collateral damage in a war on common sense.”
The legislation also blocks taxpayer-funded gender-affirming medical care, which has been exploited by violent male inmates claiming to identify as women to gain access to female facilities.
Rep. Mace blasted the practice, saying: “We’re watching dangerous men use the system to gain access to women’s spaces. These policies aren’t just misguided—they’re reckless. They’re putting women at risk, and it has to stop.”
This latest effort builds on Rep. Mace’s long history of advocating for women’s safety, dignity and respect. During her time in the South Carolina State Legislature, Mace spearheaded legislation banning the shackling of incarcerated women while they give birth—a critical reform ensuring basic human dignity in correctional facilities. Her prison reform bill was signed into law in South Carolina in 2020.
“Protecting women has been a cornerstone of my work,” Mace said. “I will never stop fighting for women who are too often ignored and forgotten.”
Women in prisons are already at higher risk of assault and abuse. Housing biological males in their spaces creates an avoidable danger. Left-wing extremists have pushed policies to reward dangerous criminals while punishing the women. This legislation will restore sanity, protect women, and stop this grave misuse of taxpayer money.
“Woke policies are putting criminals first and women last,” Mace said. “Not on my watch.”
The Prison Rape Prevention Act ensures safety and accountability while standing up for women who have been ignored by an out-of-control progressive agenda.
