Law Enforcement Action Partnership Endorses Rep. Maces States Reform Act

November 30, 2021

Washington, D.C. - The Law Enforcement Action Partnership (LEAP), an organization dedicated to mobilizing the voice of law enforcement in support of drug policy and criminal justice reforms, endorses Rep. Mace’s States Reform Act. Rep. Mace released the following statement in response to the endorsement:

“Eliminating black market and illicit markets for cannabis trade and sale through legitimate regulations and policies is a core tenant of the States Reform Act,” said Rep. Mace.“The Law Enforcement Action Partnership’s endorsement of the States Reform Act shows law enforcement members and supporters are behind legitimate common sense cannabis reform and regulation.”

“True reform must be bipartisan in nature. This legislation is something that Republicans and Democrats can get behind; it makes good on decades-old promises to rethink the War on Drugs, and it gives people who are being held back because of criminal records due to marijuana convictions a second chance at life. Regulated markets with a low federal tax will significantly undercut illicit markets, making communities safer for all of us,”said Lt. Diane Goldstein (Ret.), Executive Director of the Law Enforcement Action Partnership.
