Mace, Brown Unite Across The Aisle To Demand Transparency On Federal Records Access

July 11, 2025

Delivering on President Trump’s Vision for Streamlined Government

(Washington, D.C., July 11th, 2025)- Aiming to modernize how Americans access their federal records, the bipartisan Electronic Consent Accountability Act, co-led by Congresswoman Nancy Mace, brings much-needed transparency and accountability to federal agencies as they upgrade and streamline public access to government records.

The bill directs all federal agencies to report to Congress on whether they have implemented a legally required Office of Management and Budget (OMB) memorandum first issued during the Trump Administration.

The memo, authorized under the Creating Advanced Streamlined Electronic Services (CASES) Act, instructs agencies to establish electronic processes allowing individuals to access their own records or give consent to share them.

“This is a commonsense step forward in making government services more accessible,” said Congresswoman Nancy Mace. “Both parties can agree, the American people deserve an efficient, electronic option to manage their own information.”

“My constituents shouldn’t have to deal with slow, outdated paper processes just to get help from their government,” said Congresswoman Shontel Brown. “This bill holds agencies accountable and pushes them to adopt modern, secure tools that our government better serves the American people.”

The legislation reflects President Trump’s vision of a government who works for the people: cutting red tape, demanding accountability, and delivering real results for hardworking Americans.
