Mace Opposed Nancy Pelosi's Partisan Spending Spree

February 27, 2021

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Nancy Mace (SC-01) on Saturday issued the following statement after voting against the Democrats' $1.9 trillion spending package:

"In the dead of night, Speaker Nancy Pelosi rammed through a nearly $2 trillion spending spree under the guise of 'coronavirus relief.' All but two Democrats in Congress forced upon us:

  • Over $100 million for an underground rail in Pelosi’s backyard
  • $1.5 million on a bridge for Chuck Schumer in New York
  • $86 billion in union pension bailouts
  • $35 billion ObamaCare bailout
  • $1.5 billion Amtrak bailout
  • $1 billion in foreign aid
"This is far from COVID relief. It’s politics as usual. Only one percent of this package is being spent on vaccinations for Coronavirus. Less than 10 percent of the total package goes to COVID relief. Not to mention, $1 trillion from the previous COVID packages has yet to be spent. We need to know, to the very last penny, where this money is. And we need to target any and all COVID relief to those who truly need it.

"This is a no good, very bad bill and that’s why I voted no last night."
