Mace Resolved Over 600 Constituent Cases, Returned Over $1.2 Million to Taxpayers in First Two Months
'Thanks to Nancy and her office, I don't worry about being left behind'
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Nancy Mace announced Thursday her office has completed over 650 constituent cases for South Carolinians in the 1st Congressional District. Case work issues thus far have included IRS disputes, Medicare coverage, and veterans’ benefits. Mace’s office has also helped return over $1.2 million to constituents in her first two months in office.
"My most important duty is to help the people of the Lowcountry and I promised no one would work harder to meet the needs of our district," Mace said. "Since I was sworn in on January 3rd, we have resolved over 600 cases and counting. Many of these cases were from constituents who'd been failed by the system for months and desperate for help. Thanks to the tireless efforts of our caseworkers and staff, we are tackling many issues our constituents need addressed."
“Serving the Lowcountry in Congress is the honor of my life. And having such a visible, positive impact, early on, like this is easily the best part of the job. I cannot express how proud everyone in the district should be of the team we have assembled and the incredible work they are doing for SC-01.”
Robin G. of Summerville waited for months for her Social Security benefits to kick in and was unable to reach anyone for help despite repeated phone calls. Finally, she reached out to Rep. Mace's office for help. The very next day, she received a call from the Social Security Administration and soon after received her benefits.
"I was thrilled I wasn’t just another complaint on the telephone. I was treated as a real person with a real problem. Thanks to Nancy and her office, I don't worry about being left behind. She really cares about her constituents and gives me hope for our country.
Brad D. of Mt. Pleasant reached out to Rep. Mace's office after struggling to find assisted living care for his mother, a Korean War veteran. Within days, the office was able to resolve issues with the Department of Veterans' Affairs so she could prequalify for assisted living.
"I couldn't believe how quickly Congresswoman Mace and her office resolved this issue. Nancy is a no-nonsense lawmaker who is here to protect the Lowcountry and stand up for those she works for."
By the numbers as of March 17:
- 1,242 cases opened
- 651 cases closed
- $1,236,599 returned to constituents who have requested assistance with government agencies
