Mace Tours COVID-19 Vaccination Site, Urges SC's Most Vulnerable to Book Appointments

January 20, 2021

Washington - Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC-01) on Wednesday visited the Medical University of South Carolina to discuss the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine in South Carolina.

“Our hospitals are working overtime to make sure South Carolina’s most vulnerable populations are first in line to receive the COVID-19 vaccine,”Mace said.Unfortunately, federal supply and distribution issues are holding us back from getting more South Carolinians vaccinated. I am working to spread the word that help is here and on the way as our delegation continues to push our federal partners to get doses out the door. I will work tirelessly at the state and federal levels to ensure all parties and the new Biden Administration are coordinating effectively to get the people of the Lowcountry the help they need to defeat this virus.”

CEO of MUSC Health Systems and Vice President of Health Affairs at the University Dr. Patrick J. Cawley said:“We always appreciate the opportunity to show our elected officials firsthand the hard work and dedication that our care team members demonstrate daily in the fight against COVID-19. We continue to add vaccination clinics and mass vaccination clinic planning is ongoing with partners around the state. The agility and problem-solving capability of our team has been remarkable; I have no doubt that despite the complexities and challenges we continue to face in rolling out the vaccine, this team will continue to do all we can to get vaccines into arms.”

President of MUSC Health Systems Dr. David J. Cole said:"We greatly appreciate Rep. Mace taking the time to visit with the MUSC family and learn more about how we are serving the state with our vaccine distribution effort. Our teams continue to draw on their unwavering sense of commitment to the community as well as our innovative culture to meet this great public health need. South Carolinians can continue to count on MUSC to do all that it can to bring the pandemic to an end.”
