Rep. Mace Cosponsors Legislation to Support Veterans with Military Sexual Trauma-related Disabilities
July 16, 2021
Washington, D.C. – This week, Congresswoman Nancy Mace (SC-01) and Congresswoman Jennifer González-Colón (PR-AL) introduced a bipartisan bill to support military retirees suffering from military sexual trauma (MST). The Military Sexual Trauma Retirement Pay Equity Act (MSTREA) would allow veterans who’ve been sexually assaulted to receive both their full retirement and disability compensation.
“Currently, our veterans are forced to suffer silently without support or compensation for their sacrifice,” Mace said.“It is time to de-stigmatize sexual trauma and ensure our veterans are receiving the full benefits they have undoubtedly earned.”
