Rep. Mace Hosts Working Lunch With Lowcountry Mayors to Discuss Regional Challenges
April 29, 2021
Charleston, SC - Congresswoman Nancy Mace (SC-01) on Wednesday hosted a brown bag lunch meeting with mayors from across South Carolina's first congressional district to discuss the top issues facing their communities and how they can work together to address them.
The discussion largely centered around the Lowcountry's infrastructure needs, particularly the expansion of local highways, restoring the Charleston seawall, and re-dredging of the Port of Charleston.
"Mayors have their fingers on the pulse of their communities to a degree which is simply impossible for us in Congress. My constituents are their constituents as well, and they often see what our region needs sooner than I ever could," said Mace. "I was grateful to have the opportunity to benefit from their perspective and learn how I can best help them meet the challenges we face here in the Lowcountry."
