REP. MACE RELEASES STATEMENT ON RIGHT TO CONTRACEPTION ACT

Bill allows for the right to access contraceptives to be added into federal law.

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. Mace released the following statement on her vote in favor of the Right to Contraception Act:

“South Carolina is banning almost all exceptions for women including who’ve been raped and victims of incest. Today I voted to protect access to contraceptives, to protect every woman in South Carolina,” said Rep. Mace.Not only do different contraceptives prevent pregnancies, but some are also needed in order to maintain a healthy and well-functioning body.”

BACKGROUND:

This bill will allow people to obtain contraceptives, establish the right for healthcare providers to provide contraceptives and information about contraceptives, and also protects different contraceptive methods, devices, and medications used to prevent pregnancy, oral contraceptives, emergency contraceptives, and intrauterine devices. 

ABOUT:

Congresswoman Nancy Mace grew up in the Lowcountry. She is the daughter of a retired Army General and retired school teacher. Before being sworn into Congress, Nancy earned accolades as one of the most fiscally conservative members of the South Carolina General Assembly; she’s also one of the most pro-conservation lawmakers in the state of South Carolina.
