Rep. Mace Slams Partisan "My Way or the Highway" Infrastructure Bills

June 10, 2021

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Nancy Mace (SC-01) released the following statement after voting against the House Democrats' partisan infrastructure packages:

"For months now, Democrats claimed to be negotiating with Republicans in good faith to come to a bipartisan agreement on how to make badly needed investments in our roads, bridges, airports, and seaports. With the release of these partisan bills in the House, we see this was just a ruse," Mace said. "Just two weeks ago, Senate Republicans came together with Democrats to unanimously advance a bipartisan infrastructure bill. In the past, members of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee did the same thing. These types of bills are historically bipartisan and it’s a shame tradition was shattered this morning.

"Let me be clear: Republicans proved time and again we are willing and able to find common ground with Democrats to do what's right for America's infrastructure. But now, House Democrats are blowing up past agreements to pander to their extreme base. The American people are looking to us to put our petty partisan games aside and work to rebuild our roads and bridges. Instead, they're getting massive Green New Deal spending, social justice programs, and a laundry list of other radical left programs which have absolutely nothing to do with infrastructure."
