Rep. Mace Statement on COMPETES Act

Rep. Nancy Mace issued this statement after the House voted today on the COMPETES Act::

“The U.S. can’t counter China with bureaucracy and red tape – or with a climate slush fund disguised as foreign policy. This bill mentions climate and coral reefs more times than China,”  said Rep. Nancy Mace. “I personally saw how much Taiwan needs our help when I visited in November. Yet there’s nothing in this bill to counter China’s aggression towards Taiwan. There’s nothing in this bill to prevent our technology going to Chinese companies. There’s nothing in this bill that holds China responsible for COVID-19. We can and should do better.”
