REP. MACE VOTES AGAINST RECKLESS INFLATION BILL
$430 Billion in more reckless spending won’t reduce inflation for hard-working South Carolinians
Washington, D.C.- Today the U.S. House voted on the Inflation Reduction Act. Rep. Nancy Mace voted against the bill stating the following:
“Inflation, caused by massive spending, isn't going to be solved with more massive spending,” said Rep. Mace. “Inflation caused by tax hikes isn't going to be solved with more tax hikes. And just this week President Biden claimed inflation was at 0%. It’s not. But… if inflation was really at zero, then why was Congress called in to vote for a bill the left claims will reduce inflation? South Carolinians are struggling and so too are our small businesses. The Inflation Reduction Act doesn’t even begin to address the major, contributing factors to inflation (spending and taxes).”
###
BACKGROUND
The Inflation Reduction Act is a massive spending bill upwards of $435 billion which does little to address the root causes of inflation. The bill is projected to increase near-term inflation and create larger long-term deficits inevitably leading to future inflationary pressure. Additionally, the bill supersizes the IRS and adds 87,000 new armed IRS agents rather than actually working to help solve the issues average Americans face every day.
