Rep. Nancy Mace and Rep. James Comer Author Letter to Dept. of Energy to Uncover Details About Sale of Oil to China
A recent sale of $100 million dollars of American oil reserves to a Chinese owned company may have benefited Russia’s war efforts.
Today, Rep. Nancy Mace (SC-01) and Rep. James Comer (KY-01) sent a letter to the Department of Energy requesting a briefing about the recent sale of oil from America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). Over $100 million dollars of American oil have been sold to a Chinese state-owned oil company. Recent research shows Chinese companies have helped support Russia’s horrific invasion of Ukraine, which is deeply concerning.
Rep. Mace released the following statement:
“It’s important for the Oversight Committee to continue to look into concerning behavior surrounding the sale of our strategic petroleum reserves,” said Rep. Mace.“Recent reports showing the sale of $100 million of our critical oil assets to a Chinese owned company are deeply troubling especially given evidence of China’s support of the Russian war effort. We must be certain that American resources are not being used by our adversaries as they support Putin’s horrific invasion of Ukraine.”
