Rep. Nancy Mace Delivers Major Defense Wins In FY26 Appropriations Bill
Mace’s amendments deliver real results for U.S. defense policy
(Washington, D.C., July 30, 2025) — Congresswoman Nancy Mace (SC-01) delivered two major wins for national defense and military innovation, with the House approving both of her amendments to the FY26 Defense Appropriations bill.
“These amendments protect our strategic capabilities and strengthen our investment in next-generation naval platforms,” said Congresswoman Mace. “It’s vital we’re not only defending readiness today, but ensuring innovation keeps pace with tomorrow’s threats.”
The two amendments passed include:
- Protecting Afloat Prepositioned Equipment: Prohibits FY26 funds from being used to decommission any vessel part of the Army Prepositioned Stocks-Afloat (APS-3) program, a critical component of global combat readiness.
- Strengthening Naval Innovation: Redirects $15 million from Defense-Wide Operations & Maintenance (O&M) to Navy Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E), specifically supporting the Large-Scale Maritime Superstructures initiative within the Ship Concept Advanced Design program.
These amendments build on Rep. Mace’s 26 legislative wins during the House Armed Services Committee’s work on the FY26 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
“From protecting forward-deployed gear to backing advanced ship design, we’re ensuring America remains the world’s dominant maritime power,” Mace added.
