Rep. Nancy Mace Issues Statement On DHS Border Success, Urges Senate To End Shutdown And Fully Fund DHS
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Apr. 10, 2026) — Congresswoman Nancy Mace issued the following statement after the Department of Homeland Security announced 11 straight months of zero illegal immigrant releases into the United States, and emphasized the importance of fully funding DHS:
“The latest news from DHS announcing its 11th consecutive month of zero releases at the border shows when our laws are enforced and our frontline agents are supported, we get results.
“Under the Trump administration, and through the hard work of all DHS agencies, we are seeing the most secure border in American history.
“This is exactly why we must fully fund DHS to keep this momentum going. We need to ensure ICE and CBP have the resources they need to keep our country safe and secure.
“The House did its job and passed a short-term bill to keep ALL parts of DHS funded while this gets sorted out. But the Senate decided to leave for a two-week vacation while critical DHS funding remains in limbo because they refuse to act.
“The Senate shouldn’t have been allowed to go on recess without ensuring every dollar of DHS was funded.
“Here we are almost two months into this shutdown and there still isn’t a funding agreement. The Senate needs to get back to work and do its job.”
