REP. NANCY MACE VOTES YES ON PARENTAL BILL OF RIGHTS
Washington, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Nancy Mace (SC-01) voted yes on H.R. 5, the Parental Bill of Rights Act. The legislation seeks to protect the fundamental rights of parents to oversee the education and care of their children.
The legislation is built on five, common-sense principles:
- Parents have the right to know what their children are being taught.
- Parents have the right to be heard.
- Parents have the right to see the school budget and spending.
- Parents have the right to protect their child’s privacy.
- Parents have the right to keep their children safe.
"As a mother with two school-aged children, parents know what is best for their kids," said Congresswoman Mace."The Parental Bill of Rights Act will help safeguard this essential principle by affirming the right of parents to be involved in their children's education.”
The bill provides parents with greater legal protections in cases where their parental rights may be threatened by government agencies or other organizations. It also aims to prevent state and local governments from interfering with parental decision-making, and to provide parents with more information about the rights they have under the law.
"Parents have the right to be involved in every aspect of their children's lives, and this legislation will help ensure that they are not overruled or kept in the dark by bureaucrats or special interests,”concluded Congresswoman Mace.
