Woman Who Threatened To Kill Rep. Nancy Mace Sentenced To 27 Months In Federal Prison
CHARLESTON, S.C. (July 21, 2026) – An Indianapolis woman has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to threatening to kill Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) in a series of violent messages.
In January 2025, Shayla Addison, 28, sent a series of violent messages to Rep. Mace's phone number, email address, and Instagram account threatening to kill her and blow up the building. The messages included:
- "Come outside b***h we'll kill you"
- "We will kill you and blow that whole building up b***h come outside."
- “Shut up hoe I’ll kill you,”
- “I hope you got mace… cause you gone need it.”
- “Tread lightly”
She pleaded guilty to two counts of influencing a federal official by threat and she will have three years of supervised release following her prison term.
"No one should have to fear for their life for serving the American people," said Congresswoman Mace. "I receive over 1,300 credible threats a year and every single one is taken seriously. Political violence has no place in this country."
