Defense & Security

One of the federal government’s most basic responsibilities is to protect our country and our people from attack by those who wish to harm us. As the attacks on 9/11 showed us, we live in a hostile world, one filled with threats which can do incredible damage if we don’t take them seriously.
But, we can’t allow Washington to use these very real threats to keep our armed forces engaged in endless wars across the globe without any input from Congress or the American people.
Our Constitution gives Congress the exclusive authority to declare war because our Founders knew allowing a single person to take an entire country to war on their own was a massive risk to our liberty.
Aside from the very serious constitutional concerns, there are very simple moral ones at stake. When we fight, it’s the American people who do the fighting. Not politicians. This means the American people must have a say in deciding who, when, and where we fight through their elected representatives in Congress.
If we go to war, the very least we owe our brave troops is ensuring we follow the framework they’re being put into harm’s way to defend.

More on Defense & Security
In recent weeks we've witnessed several escalations-- most notably when U.S. service members were injured in a rocket attack conducted by Iranian proxies. Hezbollah and Hamas contribute nothing to the world but chaos and violence. Our support for Israel’s security is steadfast, especially in the face of threats from Iran and its terrorist proxies. Israel has every right to defend itself against these relentless attacks.

"Three years have now passed since the Biden-Harris administration catastrophically mismanaged withdrawal from Afghanistan. Thirteen American troops lost their lives as a result of this tragedy. Not a single official has been held accountable for the chaos that unfolded, the allies we abandoned, or the rise of a violent terrorist group in Afghanistan."
(Washington, D.C., August 22, 2024) — Today, Congresswoman Nancy Mace and Chairman James Comer announced the Committee on Oversight and Accountability has sent a formal request to Jerico Pictures, Inc., also known as National Public Data, regarding a significant cyberattack.
“Prime Minister Netanyahu’s acceptance of the ceasefire deal is a step towards securing the safe return of hostages. Now it’s on Hamas to stop playing games and meet their end of the deal – no more stalling, no more using innocent lives as bargaining chips.”
"This breach of National Public Data should be a wake-up call. Our government is unprepared for the cyber threats of today, let alone tomorrow. Cyberwarfare is the battlefield of the future, and right now, we're losing. The privacy of every American and the security of our nation are at stake. There is no reason this should be happening with the talent and tech our nation possesses. It’s time to cut the bureaucracy and start protecting Americans, our government and our national security."
"Yesterday there was another missile strike on the U.S-Coalition Base in northern Syria. Last week, four U.S. service members were injured in a rocket attack. The Houthis have claimed credit both times. What did Biden say? "We'll see what Iran does. We'll see what happens." We cannot afford to wait and see what happens. President Biden’s weakness and failure to address the growing aggression from Iranian terrorist proxies emboldens them."
