Defense & Security

One of the federal government’s most basic responsibilities is to protect our country and our people from attack by those who wish to harm us. As the attacks on 9/11 showed us, we live in a hostile world, one filled with threats which can do incredible damage if we don’t take them seriously.
But, we can’t allow Washington to use these very real threats to keep our armed forces engaged in endless wars across the globe without any input from Congress or the American people.
Our Constitution gives Congress the exclusive authority to declare war because our Founders knew allowing a single person to take an entire country to war on their own was a massive risk to our liberty.
Aside from the very serious constitutional concerns, there are very simple moral ones at stake. When we fight, it’s the American people who do the fighting. Not politicians. This means the American people must have a say in deciding who, when, and where we fight through their elected representatives in Congress.
If we go to war, the very least we owe our brave troops is ensuring we follow the framework they’re being put into harm’s way to defend.

“President Donald Trump’s announcement of a $500 billion investment in AI infrastructure is a game-changer for America’s future. Building out state-of-the-art data centers and ensuring we lead the global AI race will drive innovation, create jobs, and keep us competitive against nations like China. We chair the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, IT, and Government Innovation so we understand the importance this investment can make. This is exactly the kind of bold investment we need to secure America’s place as the leader in AI development."
"This deal is a testament to the strength and leadership of Donald Trump, whose peace-through-strength policies prove once again to be the only way to stand up to cowardly terrorists like Hamas. Terrorists thrive on chaos, suffering, and the oppression, torture and murder of innocent people, and any agreement with them is a grim reminder of their barbarity. We must bring every single hostage home—Hamas’s reign of terror will not go unanswered, and the world must never waver in crushing their tyranny once and for all."
"Every day these hostages remain in their hands is another day they are subjected to unspeakable horrors. Hamas is a savage group using civilians as bargaining chips, showing the world their complete disregard for human life. This is not just a war against Israel—it is a war against humanity itself. This administration’s delay in taking action only enabled Hamas to extend this suffering. We cannot, and will not, let this stand. Every single person held by Hamas must be brought home, and those responsible for these heinous acts must be held accountable.
"Trust in the federal government is already at rock bottom—and just when we thought it couldn’t get worse, it has. Dozens of unexplained drone sightings across multiple states, and the White House is lying through their teeth instead of giving the American people clear answers. They think we can’t handle the truth.
We’ve always going to stand up for transparency and accountability because the American people deserve to know what’s happening in their skies, especially when it comes to their safety and privacy.
(Washington, D.C. - Rep. Nancy Mace (SC-01) voted to authorize the fiscal year 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to support our servicemembers and their families after securing a number of major wins for South Carolina and the Lowcountry.
"Vivek Ramaswamy is spot on—our legacy IT systems are outdated and in desperate need of updating. We’re dealing with tech from the 1960s which costs more to maintain, leaves us open to cyber threats, and slows everything down. Our office introduced and passed the Modernizing Government Technology Reform Act for this exact reason. If we want to stop waste, cut fraud, and make government programs actually work for the people, we need to modernize.”
