Jobs & Economy

A strong job market is the cornerstone of an unstoppable America. We get it, and that is why our votes will always put American workers and families first. From our many ports, our local small businesses, and urban development, we will defend your jobs and bring more to the Lowcountry. But jobs are not the only thing that shape our economy.
The current Congress in Washington has failed to end wasteful spending. The national debt is $34,000,000,000,000. Inflation is up. Cost of living is up. The burden of our nation's crippling debt is now being felt by families all across South Carolina. But establishment Republicans and Democrats have done nothing to prevent this. The unchecked spending in the nation's capital has spiraled out of control and we must act now and balance our budget. That is exactly what we will do in Congress.
We will not stand idly by as the Biden administration worsens the economic challenges facing hardworking American families. We will champion policies that lower taxes, alleviate the high cost of living, and provide meaningful change to American families. In our office, the Lowcountry will always come first, as we strive to uphold the values and principles that make our nation great.

When Joe Biden was sworn in as president in January, he promised the American people he would make bipartisanship a top priority of his administration and work to unify the country. Many Americans, including myself, were hopeful he’d stick to this promise, one he repeated over and over again on the campaign trail.

As we finally approach the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, life in America is getting close to something that looks like “normal.” Americans are seeing friends and family, schools are reopening, offices are returning to some in-person work, and businesses across the country are getting mobbed by customers.
To accommodate this reopening, these businesses need new employees, and they’re dusting off their “Help Wanted” signs as fast as they can.
Unfortunately, many business owners are rapidly discovering that they can’t find workers to take the jobs they’re offering.

Our nation is made up of thousands of “laboratories of democracy,” where families, businesses, communities, and governments are driven to find unique ways to overcome challenges we all face. This is especially true when it comes to environmental protection.
Every state, city, and town have their own approach to balancing the economic prosperity of their communities with the desire to preserve the environment they depend on for so much of their lives.
