Defense & Security

One of the federal government’s most basic responsibilities is to protect our country and our people from attack by those who wish to harm us. As the attacks on 9/11 showed us, we live in a hostile world, one filled with threats which can do incredible damage if we don’t take them seriously.
But, we can’t allow Washington to use these very real threats to keep our armed forces engaged in endless wars across the globe without any input from Congress or the American people.
Our Constitution gives Congress the exclusive authority to declare war because our Founders knew allowing a single person to take an entire country to war on their own was a massive risk to our liberty.
Aside from the very serious constitutional concerns, there are very simple moral ones at stake. When we fight, it’s the American people who do the fighting. Not politicians. This means the American people must have a say in deciding who, when, and where we fight through their elected representatives in Congress.
If we go to war, the very least we owe our brave troops is ensuring we follow the framework they’re being put into harm’s way to defend.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Jan. 2, 2026) – Today, Congresswoman Nancy Mace called out the blatant hypocrisy of South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, who is now starting the year with a dedicated security detail his office quietly requested while publicly mocking Rep. Mace for seeking basic protection amid thousands of credible threats.
Wonderful words from a constituent thanking our office for standing with law enforcement during a time when police were under constant attack.
While others were calling to defund the police, we were securing federal grants to strengthen their resources, over $2.3 million in the last two years. Law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day. Our commitment to law and order has NEVER wavered.

We just introduced the Preventing the Recognition of T*rrorist States Act.
This bill would designate the Taliban as a Foreign T*rrorist Organization, the Taliban-run government of Afghanistan as a State Sponsor of T*rrorism, and prohibit federal agencies from taking actions recognizing the Taliban-led government of Afghanistan.
We led this bill in the House during the 118th Congress, with a companion effort led by then-Sen. Marco Rubio.
T*rrorists pretending to be a legit government are still t*rrorists.

Received a few briefings regarding Operation Midnight Hammer as a result of my work on the House Armed Services Committee. Also, presented our "Patriot Award" to the Airmen and Airwomen of the flight wing who participated in Operation Midnight Hammer.
South Carolina and America FIRST.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Dec. 12, 2025) — A South Carolina judge denied bond for the third time to Samuel Theodore Cain, the defendant charged with threatening to murder Congresswoman Nancy Mace (SC-01), ordering Cain remain in custody at the Greenville County Detention Center.
The ruling came after a bond hearing before Honorable G.D. Morgan, Jr. in the 13th Judicial Circuit, where the Solicitor’s Office strongly opposed Cain’s release and presented a formal victim impact statement submitted by Congresswoman Mace.
